How Many Followers to Get Paid on TikTok? Every Route Has a Different Number

How Many Followers to Get Paid on TikTok?
Ten thousand, if you mean the Creator Rewards Programme — and on its own that number pays nothing, because the same rule asks for 100,000 video views in the preceding 30 days and only counts videos at least a minute long.
That is where most pages stop, and it is why most of them are wrong. Getting paid on TikTok is not one arrangement with one gate. It is six of them, with four different payers, and the follower bar differs between them by a factor of ten. What they share is the part nobody leads with: not one of the six pays you for having followers. The count decides whether you may apply. Something else decides what arrives afterwards.
Every figure below is TikTok's own, linked where it is used and dated, because these bars move — the Creator Fund was replaced, the replacement renamed, and a threshold written from memory is almost certainly stale. Where TikTok publishes no figure at all, the gap is left open rather than plugged with somebody else's number.
Route One: The Creator Rewards Programme
This is the one people mean, and the only route where TikTok itself is the payer.
The programme's own US terms, last updated on 20 July 2026, set four conditions on the account:
Then a fifth condition, not about the account at all. A video only earns if it is at least one minute long and publicly posted, and the EEA version of the same terms rules out more: a Duet or Stitch, a Photo Mode post, and any advertisement, paid promotion or sponsored content.
And then the part that decides the size of the payment, which is not the follower count. Those terms say rewards are "calculated dynamically based on the country of the video views origin, the number of video views, video engagement and authenticity of a video view". A qualified view is one a person watches "for five seconds or more" and has not marked as not interested. Views TikTok determines are "artificially produced or obtained", or that are your own, are excluded.
So the honest summary of route one: 10,000 followers buys an application form, and views — from particular countries, on minute-long original video — decide the money. TikTok publishes no rate per thousand views anywhere, and this page will not invent one. The terms require legal residence in a country where the programme is made available, and the EEA version says it runs in selected countries only. Neither names one, so that list is TikTok's to publish.

Routes Two and Three: Series and Subscription
Two paywalls, both with a 10,000 in front of them, and one interesting side door.
Series
TikTok's Series announcement, updated with these criteria on 6 June 2023, set the test as creators in select regions who are 18 or older, with an account at least 30 days old, at least 10,000 followers, more than three public videos posted in the last 30 days, and at least 1,000 authentic video views in the last 30 days. A Series can hold up to 80 videos of up to 20 minutes each, and the creator sets the price. That is the oldest source on this page and TikTok has revised monetisation criteria repeatedly since, so treat it as the shape of the test and confirm it in the app.
The side door is in the next sentence of that announcement. Creators under 10,000 followers who meet the rest of those conditions can apply anyway by supplying a link to premium content they have already sold on another platform. Applying, TikTok adds, does not guarantee access.
Read that for what it says about the screen. It is not asking whether you are popular; it is asking whether anybody has ever paid you for anything, and evidence of a past sale substitutes for the follower count outright. No other route here lets a number be argued around.
Subscription
TikTok's Subscription expansion post of 23 September 2024 puts it at 18 or older, an account in good standing, and at least 10,000 followers with 100,000 video views in the past calendar month — or, instead, meeting TikTok's LIVE eligibility requirements.
That alternative is the useful part. Subscription is the one route with two independent doors, and the second does not ask for 10,000 of anything.
Route Four: LIVE Gifts, Where the Bar Is Answered and Answers Nothing
This is the one route where the follower question has a clean published answer. TikTok's help centre lists 1,000 followers to go LIVE, printing "may vary across regions" immediately after it, alongside a minimum age of 18. That threshold, that hedge and the figures circulating in their place have a page of their own.
That page settles access. It does not settle the half this one is about, and for that the documents are different. Switching Gifts on adds no second follower bar: TikTok's LIVE Gifts page points back at LIVE eligibility, where the thousand already is, and asks besides only for an age of 18 — 19 in South Korea — a location where the feature exists, and an account in good standing. What it adds instead is a description of the money: Diamonds are "awarded based on the popularity of your LIVE", by TikTok, rather than passed along by the viewer who sent the Gift.
Then the part almost nobody quotes, which is stranger than any threshold. The Virtual Items Policy, last updated on 22 January 2026, says that when you gift, "you are not transferring money, Coins, or anything of value to other users on the Platform". Diamonds, it says, recognise a user's popularity and ranking on the platform, and "do not automatically entitle a user to receive Rewards, including a Reward Payment". No conversion rate is published; the rate is shown at the point of withdrawal.
So the number is known here and it still settles nothing about being paid. Clearing a thousand opens a button, and stops. Behind the button, TikTok describes the money as recognition it may grant rather than as something a viewer handed you, and what a viewer spends against what a creator receives is a separate subject again, covered in buy TikTok coins.
Route Five: TikTok Shop Affiliate
A tenth of the number everybody quotes for TikTok, and the same bar LIVE already sets.
TikTok Shop's own Creator Eligibility Policy requires an affiliate creator in the United States to have a minimum of 1,000 followers, to be at least 18, to be based in the US, to have no prior record of having e-commerce permissions revoked, and not to be a government, politician or political party account.
Note who is paying. Not TikTok — a seller, as commission on a sale. So the follower count decides nothing about the amount. Two accounts that cross 1,000 on the same afternoon will earn permanently different sums from that day on, because the variable is whether anybody buys.
Whether a purchased 1,000 clears that door is a different question with a different answer, and this site has already written it: can I buy 1,000 followers on TikTok.
Route Six: Brand Deals
Two shapes, and one of them has no number in it anywhere.
Through TikTok One, TikTok's own brand-deal marketplace, its help page asks that TikTok One has launched in your country or region, that you are at least 18, and that you meet the Community Guidelines and Branded Content Policy. On taking part it says creators need "at least 1,000+ followers and other requirements", which "vary by project and are subject to change".
Outside the marketplace there is no gate of any kind. A brand deal is a person with a budget deciding your audience is worth reaching, and there is no threshold published because nobody's job is to publish one. That is the real reason "how many followers for brand deals" comes back with a different answer from every page that answers it: those numbers are not thresholds, they are guesses about other people's negotiations.
The Word Doing the Work Is "Authentic"
Read the Creator Rewards test again. Not 10,000 followers — 10,000 authentic followers. Not 100,000 views — 100,000 authentic total video views. The reward calculation turns on "authenticity of a video view", and views "artificially produced or obtained" are excluded by name. TikTok put that adjective into the clause four separate times, and a shop that sells follower packages does not get to read past it.
So No, You Cannot Buy Your Way to the Money
Against our own interest, plainly. Look at what each of the six tests is metered on, as opposed to what it asks for at the door:
Five meters, and the follower number is not any of them. It appears in exactly one role across all six routes: a threshold on an application. A gate is not a meter, and buying your way through a gate does not move the meter behind it.
What a count is genuinely worth here is what it is worth everywhere: it is the first thing a stranger reads, and the first thing a shortlist sorts on. That is a real function, it is the only one a purchase touches, and TikTok followers are sold on this site on those terms and no others. Anybody calling a follower package a monetisation strategy is describing a test measured on something the package does not contain.
The Short Version
Six answers to one question, agreeing on one thing only: the follower number is the gate rather than the meter.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many followers do you need to get paid on TikTok?
It depends which of TikTok's earning routes you mean, and the bars differ by a factor of ten. The Creator Rewards Programme terms require at least 10,000 authentic followers and at least 100,000 authentic video views in the last 30 days before applying. Series and Subscription also sit at 10,000. TikTok LIVE, where gifting happens, is listed at 1,000 followers with TikTok's own caveat that it may vary across regions. The TikTok Shop affiliate route in the United States requires 1,000, and TikTok One requires at least 1,000 to take part in projects. A brand deal agreed directly has no published threshold at all. None of the six routes pays you for having followers; the count is an application gate and the money is metered on something else.
Is 10,000 followers enough for the TikTok Creator Rewards Programme?
No, not on its own. TikTok's US Creator Rewards Program Terms, last updated on 20 July 2026, require at least 10,000 authentic followers AND at least 100,000 authentic total video views in the last 30 days before the application is submitted. The applicant must be 18 or older, and the account cannot be a Business Account, an Organization Account, or an account belonging to a government organisation, politician or political party. Even then, a video only earns if it is at least one minute long and publicly posted.
How much does TikTok pay per view or per 1,000 followers?
TikTok does not publish a rate, and any page quoting one is quoting an estimate. The Creator Rewards Programme terms say rewards are calculated dynamically based on the country the views came from, the number of views, video engagement and the authenticity of a view, and that a qualified view is one a person watches for five seconds or more and has not marked as not interested. There is no published figure per thousand views and no published figure per follower, because followers are not what the programme pays on.
How many followers do you need for TikTok Series or Subscription?
Both are published at 10,000, and both attach other conditions. TikTok's Series announcement set the test at 18 or older, an account at least 30 days old, at least 10,000 followers, more than three public videos posted in the last 30 days and at least 1,000 authentic video views in the last 30 days — and it lets creators under 10,000 followers who meet the rest of those conditions apply anyway by supplying a link to premium content they have already sold on another platform, though TikTok adds that applying does not guarantee access. TikTok's Subscription expansion post puts it at 18 or older, an account in good standing, and at least 10,000 followers with 100,000 video views in the past calendar month, or meeting TikTok's LIVE eligibility requirements instead.
Do TikTok gifts and Diamonds count as being paid?
Not in the way most people assume. TikTok's US Virtual Items Policy, last updated on 22 January 2026, says that when you gift, you are not transferring money, Coins or anything of value to other users on the platform. Diamonds recognise a user's popularity and ranking on the platform, and the policy says they do not automatically entitle a user to receive Rewards, including a Reward Payment. TikTok publishes no conversion rate; the withdrawal rate is shown at the point of withdrawal.
Can you get paid on TikTok with fewer than 10,000 followers?
Yes, on four routes. The TikTok Shop affiliate route in the United States sets its bar at 1,000 followers, alongside being 18 or older, being based in the United States, and having no record of e-commerce permissions being revoked. TikTok LIVE, where gifting happens, is listed at 1,000. TikTok One says creators need at least 1,000 followers to take part in projects, though requirements vary by project. And a brand deal agreed directly has no platform threshold whatsoever. TikTok's Series announcement also allows creators under 10,000 followers to apply by linking premium content they have already sold on another platform.
Does buying followers help you reach TikTok monetisation?
No. Every route that pays is metered on something a follower package does not contain: qualified views for Creator Rewards, a viewer choosing to subscribe or send a gift, commission on somebody's purchase for TikTok Shop, or a brand's judgement for a deal. The one place a follower number appears is as an application threshold, and TikTok's own wording there is 10,000 authentic followers, with reward calculations excluding views it determines are artificially produced or obtained. Buying a count moves the number a visitor reads on a profile. It does not move any of the five meters behind the gates.
